Understanding story structure is an essential tool for every filmmaker. This 5-week course will give you the foundational knowledge you need to write a screenplay, whether it be for a five-minute short or a feature-length film. Learn the basics of pitching your idea, outlining in three acts, understanding your characters, dialogue work, the revision process, and more. This course will require writing outside of class hours, but as a great screenwriter once said: “Being a writer is like having homework for the rest of your life.”
Lex Hrabe has worked in the entertainment industry for over ten years. He is an Albemarle County native and the co-author of the young adult novel series, QUARANTINE, under the pen name Lex Thomas. Find out more at
