Description:
Light House Studio and Live Arts present IN THE SCENE, BEHIND THE SCENES Workshop, our 2020 Spring Break Camp. In this week-long workshop, young filmmakers will be introduced to the crafts of on-camera performance and visual storytelling. In a combination acting/filmmaking workshop taught by Live Arts acting coach Ti Ames and Light House filmmaking mentor Sam Gorman, young artists will spend half of their camp time studying acting and the other half learning basic camera operation and visual storytelling techniques. Along the way they’ll create a short film or films which will be presented on Friday 4/10 at 2:30 pm at Light House Studio at Vinegar Hill Theatre.

Meet the Teaching Artists
TI AMES
Ti grew up in Charlottesville and fostered a love for theater through Live Arts camps starting at the age of 9. They are a recent graduate of Oberlin College with a double major in Africana Studies and Theater. Ti is a member of the Charlottesville Players Guild and has directed and stage managed a number of shows at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center. This past summer they directed an acclaimed and very successful production of RENT at Live Arts. Ti is also a vocal and acting coach/consultant in the Charlottesville area.

SAM GORMAN
Sam started as a student at Light House at the age of 13. From there they earned a BFA from the Film Conservatory at SUNY Purchase, a four year program focused on film production and theory, returning to Light House in the summers as a mentor. After college Sam performed various roles as a freelancer, from helping manage a professional camera rental house to working as the editor at a commercial production company. Sam has since returned to Light House full-time, bringing everything they’ve learned back to where they started. Sam continues to write and direct their own films.
