Lorenzo Dickerson is a Charlottesville area native, and founder of Maupintown Media, a film production company producing original documentary films that tell stories of historical, social and educational value. In addition, they produce promotional videos, video interviews and commercials for companies. Maupintown films can be found on Amazon, online and broadcast on PBS. Lorenzo is also the founder of the Maupintown Film Festival at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center which highlights stories of African American history and culture through film and discussion every July.
Lorenzo’s latest film “3rd Street” is currently in production and tells the story of the formerly segregated entrance and box office at Charlottesville’s Paramount Theater through the experiences of those whom were forced to use it and sit in the balcony.
