Light House is proud to partner with Zack Keifer, of
Folk Hero Films, for this workshop on Cinematography.
Students participating in this workshop will learn the basic philosophy behind shot composition and the ability to convey story through the lens of the camera. Students will be provided with a quick overview of camera shots. Then the students will observe scenes from Hollywood films that employ the various camera techniques where they will note the differences across a variety of genres. The following portion of the workshop will involve the students filming a single prewritten scene multiple times where they will be challenged to compose different shots based on an assigned genre. Students will be placed into small groups where they will each plan and storyboard their shots.
Ultimately, students attending this workshop will gain an appreciation for the many different ways that one can film a single script. They will learn the power of cinematography as well as gain a keen understanding of what it means to think visually about a story.
